In January 1987 came the final revision of the Apple IIe, often referred to as the Platinum IIe, due to the color change of its case to the light-grey color scheme that Apple dubbed “Platinum”.
History
The Apple IIe was one of the most successful computers of the 1980s. First introduced in 1983, it remained in production for over a decade, making it one of the longest-lived personal computers ever made.
The Platinum revision updated the machine’s appearance to match Apple’s newer product line, including the Macintosh and Apple IIGS. Despite the cosmetic changes, the Platinum IIe remained fully compatible with software written for earlier Apple II models.
